Building function as funeral and music centre which compliment each other. With music as part of the features in funeral event goin here, it improves the atmosphere quality.

Concept : Absorption.
Performance stage settled as the most important space of the building where this place is actually the place where the activities of the building - funeral & music centre meet each other. -The idea of forming a structural form actually came from the structure parts of the fish which is the fins,spines and the skeletal structure of the fish. BUILDING CONSTRUCTION ii

Teamed up with Gordon , Lip Khai, Gan ,Seow Liang and billy in this assignment. Took us few nytes to done this because time for the concrete to dry is reli reli long. Tiring*.

About the assignment,

Group’s Objective
Troika is designed by Priztker Price winner Lord Foster, which is primarily one of the reasons this building is picked. The building was built with shear walls, in place of the beams. In other words, this high rise building has no beam supporting the structure. Also, it uses advance formwork construction, a method which will be incorporated and considered in future work – a right place for architecture novice/noobs. Since the piling work had already been done (the construction commenced a year ago), we therefore opted for floor slab formwork. The reason was its specially designed and flexible girders (and the amount of it) that were used in constructing the formwork. The other features of the 1:20 scale model are the shear wall climbing formwork, pre-cast shear wall with linear indent pitted in, and a standard single flight stairs formwork, for fun factor.

The Building

The Troika is a high residential condominium built adjacent to the landmark Petronas Twin Towers. This project aims to introduce art into living, hence the majestic and beautiful glass and steel materials. For the best view of Kuala Lumpur, shear walls are constructed, in a vertical linear fashion to give a strong monolith articulation. Troika is an uprising inroduction to extravagant lifestyle, and also redefined the skyline of Kuala Lumpur.

Design & Construction
The Foster designed responds to the unique dense location with a scheme of three residential towers - of 38, 44, and 50 storeys respectively - the tallest residential development in Malaysia. The construction method of Troika Condominium is unique where shear walls are used in place of beams and columns. The advanced PERI formwork was used in Troika due to its dependable reliability and faster construction process for floor slab, stair and shear wall construction.

The character:

TIMBALAND
Timothy Z Mosley who is known as Timbaland today was born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia on March 10, 1971. As a record producer, songwriter and a rapper as well, he is most well known for his R&B, hip hop, pop rap, dance-pop and rapcore. He is capable to play several music instruments such as the Sampler , different kind of keyboards, bass guitar, drums and he is good at Rapping, vocals beatboxing, He has worked with singers of different genre such as Missy Elliott, Magoo, Aaliyahh, Ginuwine , Elton John , Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake, Keri Hilson, D.O.E., Madonna, OneRepublic, Fall Out Boy and Flo-Rida. Confident and charismatic, his goal is still to blow the listener’s mind and make them move to the beat.

Study of the character.
Size - Timbaland is a big-sized and muscular.
Height - He is big-sized but his height is average ( 5’7) which balanced his body shape.
Interest - First of all, it will be music which is his own career. Making and creating music is his top interest. Other than that, he is also interested in art. This is shown when he designed a t-shirt for the H&M's Fashion Against AIDS. Furthermore, he likes nature. Nature relaxes his mind and soul which allows his inspiration
to flow freely to create good music and great songs.
Activity. - A very hardworking man as he spends most of his time
in creating music . Writing song at silent places will be other activity of him.

Site:

-Site chosen will be the swamp. One of the main common characteristics of swamps are domination of water. It is an open surface water which associates with rivers, lakes and waterways. Swamp are not as wet as marshes or fens but they still hold a large amount of water during dry seasons. Swamps are nutrient-rich and productive. Swamps absorb heat when there is no water.

CONCEPT
- It is a few flowers shapes which are combined together to form a wide
space floor plan. Flower shapes resembles Timbaland’’s interest in nature.
He has always indulged himself in the nature’s harmony ambience.
- Biggest space in the house will be the living room- place that he gets free
time to relax and boost his energy for work.
-Louver created to give natural ventilation.
- Kitchen is far from trees to prevent the smoke blowing towards the direction
of trees and its easier for the excessive cooking smoke to fade if there is
nothing blocking it
- No windows or openings in bedroom
- The Balcony is on the back so he can enjoy the nature’s scenery and the
morning sunlight.
- Studio takes a big part of the floor plan too because it is the place where he
spends most of his time there for work
- The roof is designed to tilt to the east in order to block the sunlight but yet
provide enough of natural ventilation. Most of the parts of the roof are made
by glass which is in the first floor living room, studio and also kitchen so it will be
under natural lighting.

- The materials used are glass to bring more contact of exterior and interior since
Timbaland himself loves nature.
- The wall is made using concrete so it will absorb cold from outside when at night or
during chilly weathers.

From a chair, it actually can transform into a bed. there are two materials used here which is board that represent plastic and straw as soft ballons filled in with air. It is a suitable material because it absorbs coldness and when we sleep on it, we can actually feel cool instead of hot. other than that, from the uses of straw as soft balloons filled with air, it give us ergonomic form.

The model is made as a holder for an egg. The shape is an rectangular based and the holder which made by straw play the biggest role in this model. It holds the egg when it drop and it does not falled out. The holder itself is locked in four side.

-Holder 01

-Holder 02 -how tight the egg been hugged.

-Locked.

-bracing been added to make the model stronger.

-paper added on top to slow down the landing process of the model.

FIT YOU IN ROOM

Sem ii. Interior Behaviour study.

next, we are required to build a fitting room. this will be a pair work which students have to choose
a brand and design based on the brand itself- *characteristics* and ALL.

As usual , i will be teamin up with skinnykenn, my teammate since sem one :)
Before we start the model, we did some research on branded shops in KLCC. Estee tag along to help on the research :)

So the very very first shop, we land in is fcuk. We planned very well how we gona take picture when we are inside there so we wudnt be over-fishy. HAHA

DESCRIPTION:

The model is mostly based on the wall. Different colors bring different feelings to the user.

The wall facing the sliding door is colored white and it function as a background especially for user who want to try on dark color clothes. By havin a bright wall, user could actually see clearly how do they lok lyke when they are with dark color clothes whereas the black color wall on the right slightly have the same function which is specially for bright color clothes. It will be half mirror behind the sliding door if the door is closed. Hanger in this fitting room have been replace by the small drop box which it is more convenient for the user to put clothes they want to try because it could fit in more than 6 clothes. The seat is designed for the purpose of women to let their child togeta with em when they are tryin their clothes. THE END.

ANOTHER MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. BRAVO!

Public Toilet ( Model for design communication)

The next model that we did is a public toilet. I lost the final model and got mark deduction for it.

Basically its just a normal toilet which covered by timber wall on the exterior, while the interior look lyke a normal toilet. The plan include many doors and windows. Learned landscapin fr here.

the most interestin part is we got to learn how to cut balsa WISELY.

Rhythm and repetition

The design principle that apply in my composition is rhythm and repetition. Rhythm, described as timed movement through space, connected path along which the eye follows a regular arrangement of motifs. The presence of rhythm in my composition actually creates predictability and order in my composition. Rhythm is a principle which it depends largely upon the elements of pattern and movement to achieve its effect.

Besides that, Repetition is also one of the principle that involves in my composition. It involves the use of patterning to achieve timed movement and a visual "beat". These 12 elements are exactly the same, when combine them together it represents repetition and form a 12 angle shapes of star.

This repetition may be a clear repetition of elements in a composition, or it may be a more subtle kind of repetition that can be observed in the underlying structure of the image.
